Councilmember Narum said she also supported recreating the Civic Arts Commission. She said she <br /> liked the idea of using the Firehouse Arts Center as a way to increase downtown vitality, the <br /> development of a signature festival, perhaps as an evolution of First Wednesday, and improvements to <br /> the Cultural Arts Building. She agreed that prioritization of the goals is important, and suggested that <br /> many of the items discussed within the plan would be suitable for discussion at the school district <br /> liaison level. <br /> Mayor Thorne stressed the importance of prioritization, noting that funding for the programs contained <br /> within the Plan is not unlimited. He said he could consider reformation of the Civic Arts Commission, <br /> provided the recommendation came from the Commission itself. <br /> MOTION: It was m/s by Cook-Kallio/Narum to approve the City of Pleasanton's 2014 Cultural Plan. <br /> Motion passed by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Brown, Cook-Kallio, Narum, Pentin, Mayor Thorne <br /> Noes: None <br /> Absent: None <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL - None <br /> COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> Vice-Mayor Pentin said he attended the Loma Prieta 25 Symposium hosted by the Association of Bay <br /> Area Governments and noted a particular interest in FEMA's disaster preparedness checklist. Following <br /> the symposium he reached out to the City Manager, who will be working with the Fire Chief to review <br /> the city's preparedness but has also assured him that they are in a state of readiness. <br /> Councilmember Brown extended warm wishes to all those running for local office, noting the Council's <br /> first November meeting was cancelled due to the election. <br /> Councilmember Cook-Kallio reported attending Pleasanton Partners in Education's Taste and Toast. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:42 p.m. <br /> Respectfully su mitted, <br /> aren Diaz <br /> City Clerk <br /> City Council Minutes Page 11 of 11 October 21, 2014 <br />
