Councilmember Narum said she also supported recreating the Civic Arts Commission. She said she
liked the idea of using the Firehouse Arts Center as a way to increase downtown vitality, the
development of a signature festival, perhaps as an evolution of First Wednesday, and improvements to
the Cultural Arts Building. She agreed that prioritization of the goals is important, and suggested that
many of the items discussed within the plan would be suitable for discussion at the school district
liaison level.
Mayor Thome stressed the importance of prioritization, noting that funding for the programs contained
within the Plan is not unlimited. He said he could consider reformation of the Civic Arts Commission,
provided the recommendation came from the Commission itself.
MOTION: It was m/s by Cook - Kallio / Narum to approve the City of Pleasanton's 2014 Cultural Plan.
Motion passed by the following vote:
Ayes.
