The Council provided direction to staff issue the letter to both the city's current and then newly seated
representatives.
MOTION: It was m/s by Cook-Kallio/Brown to approve the letter to Pleasanton's California
Legislative Representatives regarding legislation to allow for extension of current (RHNA), as
amended to reflect Councilmember Brown's comments. Motion passed by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Brown, Cook-Kallio, Narum, Pentin, Mayor Thorne
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
Councilmember Cook-Kallio excused herself from the meeting and ended the teleconference.
MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL
Councilmember Brown requested that the city post the photos taken in Council Chambers to the city's
website.
Mr. Fialho reported that the city's new website is scheduled to launch the second week in November
and that staff will integrate some of those photos where possible. He also noted that the photos are
typically sent to the press.
COUNCIL REPORTS
Councilmember Narum reported that she and Councilmember Brown met with Zone 7 and other local
retailers to develop a list of priorities moving forward, which ranged from water quality to supply to
legislation. A second meeting to refine these priorities is scheduled for November. She also reported
attending a special Zone 7 meeting last week regarding their proposed permanent rate increases for
the next 2 year period. She and DSRSD Board President Leopold provided comments and asked
Zone 7 to justify these increases. Zone 7 will potentially take action on October 15, 2014.
Mayor Thorne said the League of California Cities should be releasing a webinar on its Legislative
Session in the near future. Staff will confirm the date.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:37 p.m. The Council extended a
tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military. We wish to honor the memories of those
who have died in past wars in defense of our country, including those who have died in the current
conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Respectfully submitted,
Karen Diaz
City Clerk
City Council Minutes Page 8 of 8 October 7, 2014
