THE CITY OF 15 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTON. <br /> November 18, 2014 <br /> Community Development <br /> Planning Division <br /> TITLE: UPDATE ON HISTORIC PRESERVATION TASKS AND APPROVAL OF A <br /> PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH ARCHITECTURAL <br /> RESOURCES GROUP, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $70,220 FOR SERVICES <br /> IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE PREPARATION OF A COMPREHENSIVE <br /> RESOURCE SURVEY <br /> SUMMARY <br /> At the January 21, 2014, City Council meeting, the Council approved amendments to the <br /> City's historic preservation policies and regulations. At that same meeting, the Council <br /> requested additional items be discussed or completed in the future, including completing <br /> a comprehensive resource survey of the older residential structures in the Downtown <br /> Specific Plan Area, possibly expanding design review authority to include the first floor of <br /> single-family homes, possibly creating a name for the package of historic preservation <br /> amendments, and possibly creating a sign program to recognize the five historic <br /> Downtown neighborhoods. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Authorize the City Manager to execute the Professional Services Agreement with <br /> Architectural Resources Group, Inc. for services related to preparation of a <br /> comprehensive resource survey, in the amount of $70,220. <br /> 2. Discuss and provide direction to staff regarding expanding design review authority <br /> to include the first floor of single-family homes, creating a name for the package of <br /> historic preservation amendments, and creating a sign program to recognize the <br /> five historic Downtown neighborhoods. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The $70,220 contract amount for the survey will be funded from the Professional <br /> Services line item in the Planning Division (Advance Planning) budget. Planning Division <br /> review and administration will be conducted by staff and is part of the Planning Division <br /> budget. <br />
