THE CITY OF 13 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL EASANTON. <br /> November 18, 2014 <br /> Operations Services <br /> TITLE: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE PLEASANTON PIONEER CEMETERY <br /> MASTER PLAN <br /> SUMMARY <br /> At its meeting on May 7, 2013, the City Council adopted its two-year work plan that <br /> includes development of the Pleasanton Pioneer Cemetery Master Plan (Master Plan). <br /> As an outcome of that action, in September 2013 the City Council approved the <br /> formation of a seven member Ad Hoc Pioneer Cemetery Master Plan Oversight <br /> Committee (Committee) and in January 2014 it approved an agreement with <br /> PGAdesign Inc. to develop the Master Plan. The Master Plan (Attachment 1) has been <br /> approved by the Committee and the Parks and Recreation Commission and is now <br /> before the City Council for its consideration. <br /> PIONEER CEMETERY OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION <br /> At its meeting of August 26, 2014 the Committee approved the Master Plan and <br /> recommended its adoption by the City Council. <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> At its meeting of October 9, 2014 the Parks and Recreation Commission approved the <br /> Master Plan and recommended its adoption by the City Council (Excerpt from meeting <br /> minutes are included as Attachment 2) <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the Pleasanton Pioneer Cemetery Master Plan (Attachment 1). <br /> 2. Authorize and allocate of $170,000 from the City Cemetery Fund (366-900) to <br /> conduct the Administrative Tasks and Professional Services as detailed in the <br /> Master Plan and this report. <br /> 3. Direct staff to consider funding options for immediate and secondary site related <br /> needs as detailed in the Master Plan as part of the 2015-16 Capital Improvement <br /> Program (CIP). <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There is no cost associated with approving the Pleasanton Pioneer Cemetery Master <br /> Plan. However, if the City Council authorizes funding for Administrative Tasks and <br /> Professional Services, an estimated $170,000 would be allocated from the Cemetery <br /> Fund (366-900). The current Cemetery Fund balance is $393,081. Total Cemetery <br /> improvements will be dependent upon the extent of future improvements which are <br /> anticipated to be offset by the sale of future burial plots. <br />
