THE CITY OF 12 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTON. <br /> October 21, 2014 <br /> Operation Services <br /> TITLE: UPDATE ON THE STAGE 3 WATER SHORTAGES AND LOCAL <br /> EMERGENCY DECLARATION <br /> SUMMARY <br /> A Stage 3 water shortage was declared by the City Council in May, and the City <br /> implemented a mandatory 25% reduction in water usage. Since that time, our <br /> community has responded to the requirements and the overall drought emergency. The <br /> reductions reached have protected the community water supply to date and has put us <br /> in a position to reach the 25% requirement in place for the 2014 calendar year. This <br /> report provides an update on water usage and the overall drought situation. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1.
