THE CITY OF r . I A
te. 1
PLEASANTON• CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
October 7, 2014
City Manager
TITLE: CONFIRM APPOINTMENTS TO THE ALVISO ADOBE TASK FORCE
SUMMARY
On July 15, 2014, the City Council approved the formation of a nine (9) member Alviso
Adobe Task Force to assist the City with the development of vision and mission
statements and a strategic plan to address the short- and long- term needs of the Alviso
Adobe Community Park. In particular, the Task Force will evaluate the possibility of
enhancing utilization at the Park through modest capital improvements and/or
augmented operational resources. In addition, Council directed staff to explore
integration of the recently acquired Castleridge property by the East Bay Regional Park
District and 22 acres of open space dedicated to the City as part of the Austin Property
proceedings into the planning process. A well-planned interim access incorporating
Castleridge and the Austin open space is beneficial to many parties, including the
Pleasanton community. Given the strong record of collaboration between the City and
the District, this opportunity for partnership to determine whether feasible options exist
is worth exploring.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council confirm the following appointments to serve on
the Alviso Adobe Task Force:
•2 (1) Parks and Recreation Commissioner: Deborah Wahl
❖ (1) Civic Arts Commissioner: Sandra Jellison
❖ (1) Youth Commissioner: Avni Patel
❖ (1) Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trails Committee Member: Richard Duffy
❖ (1) Pleasanton Unified School District Representative: Jacob Berg
❖ (1) Museum on Main Representative: Jim DeMersman
❖ (1) Friends of the Alviso Adobe Representative: Ann Pffaf-Doss
❖ (2) Community Member-at-Large Representatives (including one from the
neighborhood adjacent to the Park): Mike Sedlak and Larry Messa (neighbor)
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no financial impact as a result of Task Force formation.
