THE CITY OF _ 1 O
r r„ ..'y '" CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT I
pL£ASANTONC
October 7, 2014
City Manager
TITLE: APPROVE THE LIONS WAYSIDE AND DELUCCHI PARKS MASTER
PLAN
SUMMARY
The 2002 Downtown Parks and Trail System and Downtown Specific Plan
recommended that the Firehouse Arts Center, Lions Wayside Park, Delucchi Park and
the Downtown Regional Trail Corridor be treated as a single park area. The draft
Master Plan for the Lions Wayside and Delucchi Parks formulates a set of
recommendations to achieve this goal. Key elements of the Plan include
undergrounding the drainage swale in Lions Wayside Park to improve safety and
expand the functionality of the park, creation of a plaza area at the intersection of Neal
and First Streets to serve as a new gateway to the two parks and the historic downtown
area, as well as establishing a market pavilion area to support special events on West
Angela Street. An update is also provided on the environmental study and the permitting
process.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Lions Wayside and Delucchi Parks Master Plan.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no cost associated with approving the Lions Wayside and Delucchi Parks
Master Plan. At this time, funding has not been appropriated for project construction.
