is noted as the first woman ever elected to the Council. While serving on the Council, Joyce addressed
complicated issues such as the adequacy of the city's sewer capacity and was actively involved in
creating and serving as Pleasanton's first representative to the Livermore Amador Valley Water
Management Agency. Decisions made by Joyce and her fellow Council members paved the way for
the modern Pleasanton that is known today, including Stoneridge Mali and Hacienda Business Park.
She is survived by her husband Ken, her son Paul, and both grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A
memorial mass will be held in her honor at St. John Vianney Catholic Church at 1650 Ygnacio Valley
Road in Walnut Creek on August 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. In the lieu of flowers, the family has
requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:49 p.m. The Council extended a
tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military. We wish to honor the memories of those
who have died in past wars in defense of our country, including those who have died in the current
conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Respectfully submitted,
Cr- r (7
Kar n Diaz
City Clerk
City Council Minutes Page 11 of 11 August 19, 2014
