From
his current vantage point, it would likely go before the Parks and Recreation Commission and be vetted
through the task force before landing on the City Council agenda.
Mayor Thome noted that it is not at all unusual for the Parks and Recreation Commission to serve on a
parks related task force.
Councilmember Cook-Kallio reiterated her request that the PUSD representative be a teacher or other
person involved in school programming at Alviso Adobe.
Mr. Fialho said he would advise the PUSD Superintendent, who would make the appointment, of these
parameters.
MOTION: It was m/s by Pentin/Cook-Kallio to authorize staff to: 1) assemble an Alviso Adobe
Task Force comprised of a Parks and Recreation Commission, Civic Arts Commissioner, Youth
Commission, representative from PUSD as described, member of Museum on Main, member of
Friends of Alviso Adobe, member of the Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trails Committee and two at-
large community members as described; 2) integrate the Castleridge and Austin properties into
the master planning process; 3) simultaneously engage EBRPD to explore options for the interim
opening of the Castleridge property, assuming all objectives are met, and 4) limit the task force
process to a period not to exceed twelve months. Motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Brown, Cook-Kallio, Narum, Pentin, Mayor Thorne
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
Councilmember Cook-Kallio reiterated her request that any interim agreement regarding Castleridge
should defer to Alviso Adobe events and activities as it relates to parking.
Councilmember Cook-Kallio ended her participation in the meeting at 9:27 p.m.
21. Public Hearing: P14-0704, Brad Hirst — Consider introduction of an Ordinance approving a
Development Agreement to vest the development approvals of the Austin project (PUD-58 and
Tentative Tract 7813) consisting of eight (8) single-family residential lots and 22 acres of
permanent open space at 3459 Old Foothill Road for a ten-year period from 2014 to 2024 with a
five-year option
City Council Minutes Page 12 of 16 July 15,2014
