AB 1147 Assembly Bill-Bill Analysis Page 10 of 35 <br /> Page 13 <br /> 12)Permits the CAMTC to issue a registration to a massage <br /> establishment, as specified. <br /> 13)Authorizes the CAMTC to determine whether information provided to <br /> them in relation to certification of an applicant is true and <br /> correct and meets the specified requirements, and if the CAMTC has <br /> any reason to question whether the information provided is true or <br /> correct or meets the specified requirements, the CAMTC may make any <br /> investigation it deems necessary to establish that the information <br /> received is accurate. <br /> 14)Repeals the authority, structure and composition of the CAMTC's <br /> board of directors on September 1, 2015. <br /> 15)Specifies that the term of the current board of directors (Board) <br /> will terminate on September 1, 2015 and the terms of 13 new members <br /> of the Board will begin; the new Board members will be chosen in the <br /> following manner: <br /> a) One member shall be a representative of the League of <br /> California Cities, unless that entity chooses not to exercise <br /> this right to appoint; <br /> b) One member shall be a representative of the California Police <br /> Chiefs Association, unless that entity chooses not to exercise <br /> this right to appoint; <br /> c) One member shall be a representative of an antihuman <br /> trafficking organization, to be determined, unless that entity <br /> chooses not to exercise this right to appoint; <br /> d) One member appointed by the Office of the Chancellor of the <br /> Community Colleges, who must not be participating in any massage <br /> therapy certificate or degree program, unless that office chooses <br /> not to exercise the right to appoint. <br /> e) Two members shall be appointed by the director of DCA, one of <br /> whom shall be a public member and one of whom shall be a <br /> California-certified massage therapist or practitioner who has <br /> been practicing for at least three years, unless the director <br /> chooses not to exercise the right to appoint; <br /> f) One member appointed by the California Association of Private <br /> Postsecondary Schools; <br /> g) One member shall be appointed by the American Massage Therapy <br /> AB 1147 <br /> Page 14 <br /> Association, California Chapter, who shall be a <br /> California-certified massage therapist or practitioner who is a <br /> California resident and who has been practicing massage for at <br /> least three years; <br /> h) One representative, who shall be a certified massage therapist <br /> or a certified massage practitioner who is a California resident <br /> who has practiced massage for at least three years prior to the <br /> appointment, selected by a professional society, association, or <br /> other entity which membership is comprised of massage therapist <br /> professionals, and that chooses to participate in the CAMTC.
