THE CITY OF 22
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTON.
July 15, 2014
City Manager
TITLE: 2014 STATE LEGISLATIVE INITIATIVES
SUMMARY
Last summer at its work plan session, the City Council requested that a process for
monitoring state and regional legislation be developed. The City Council approved
support for the formation of a legislative committee on July 16, 2013. The formation of a
legislative committee has established a process for the City Council to receive
recommendations regarding state and federal legislative matters. This report provides a
summary of key state legislative initiatives and recommendations for the City Council to
consider.
RECOMMENDATIONS
That the City Council review and discuss the legislative summaries, recommended
legislative positions and provide direction to staff on an official legislative position for
each bill.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact associated with this report. In the future as legislative initiatives
are evaluated, staff will work with the finance department and League of California
Cities and other agencies to identify fiscal impacts to local governments associated with
any new proposed legislation.
