ATTACHMENT RESOLUTION NO. 14- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, APPROVING THE 2014 ALAMEDA COUNTY TRANSPORTATION EXPENDITURE PLAN AND REQUESTING THE ALAMEDA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS PLACE IT ON THE NOVEMBER 4, 2014 GENERAL ELECTION BALLOT WHEREAS, The Alameda County Transportation Commission has approved a new Alameda County Transportation Expenditure Plan pursuant to the authority of Public Utilities Code Section 180000 et seq.; and WHEREAS, the Transportation Expenditure Plan development was guided by a Steering Committee comprised of 13 representatives from Alameda County Cities, the Board of Supervisors, AC Transit and BART; and WHEREAS, the Transportation Expenditure Plan was developed in conjunction with the Alameda Countywide Transportation Plan, the long-range policy document that guides transportation investments, programs, policies, and advocacy for Alameda County; a steering committee, technical working group, and community working group guided development of both plans using performance based criteria; and WHEREAS, the 2014 Transportation Expenditure Plan was unanimously approved by the governing body of the Alameda County Transportation Commission on January 23, 2014; and WHEREAS, the detailed, 30-year Transportation Expenditure Plan will expand BART, bus, and rail services within Alameda County; keep transit fares affordable for youth, seniors, and people with disabilities; provide traffic relief on city streets and highways using new technology; improve air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and support an environmentally sustainable future; create good jobs within Alameda County and meet the County's growing transportation needs; and WHEREAS, the interests of Alameda County and its residents and businesses will benefit by the implementation of the 30-year Transportation Expenditure Plan through the augmentation and extension of the existing half-cent sales tax for transportation in Alameda County. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: SECTION 1. it approves the 2014 Alameda County Transportation Expenditure Plan. SECTION 2. it requests the Alameda County Board of Supervisors place the 2014 Alameda County Transportation Expenditure Plan on the November 2014 ballot SECTION 3. a certified copy of this resolution shall be sent to the Clerk of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at a regular meeting held on May 20, 2014.
