Karen Diaz
Subject: FW: Water rationing on City Council meeting agenda
SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
Provided to the City Council
After Distribution of Packet
Original Message
/
From:Joanne Hall Data 5—6 Jjf y
Sent:Tuesday,May 06,2014 4:31 PM
To:Steve;.Mayor and City Council
Cc::Daniel Smith; Karen Diaz
Subject: RE:Water rationing on City Council meeting agenda
Dear Mr. Kautz:
Thank you very much for your valuable input regarding water conservation. This message serves as receipt of your email
by the City Council and the City Manager.Thank you for your interest in the City of Pleasanton.
Kind Regards,
Joanne Hall
Public Information Officer
From:Steve -
Sent:Tuesday, May 06,2014 4:15 PM
To: Mayor and City Council
Subject:Water rationing on City Council meeting agenda
Dear Members:
Before you vote to burden the citizens of Pleasanton with onerous water reduction requirements, please address the
following issues that trouble the electorate. -
1. Should the city not lead the way by curtailing its watering of parks, street medians, and public spaces? We all see
sprinklers spraying water into the gutters in every park and on most medians in the city. In fact, the city should be
watering its plantings with reclaimed water, shouldn't it? That would go a long way toward conserving the city's
precious drinking water.
2. There should be a complete moratorium on new construction in the City of Pleasanton until the drought is over.
These hundreds and hundreds of new living units that have been recently approved should not be allowed to be
completed and occupied. If they come on line during this terrible time of water shortage, the increased water demand
will further degrade the city's ability to deal with this problem. In actuality, the new housing should not be allowed to
be built until the city has secured a reliable source of water delivery or adequate water storage to accommodate the
increased usage anticipated and to preclude continued reliance on the unreliable state water board for Pleasanton's
needs.
I am confident that my views are shared by many of my neighbors and your constituents.
Thank you for your time.
Stephen Kautz
i
