Public comment from the Audience regarding items not listed on the agenda <br /> There were none. <br /> MATTERS BEFORE THE COMMISSION <br /> 4. Recommendation to Allocate Housina and Human Services Grant (HHSG) Funds <br /> for Fiscal Year 2014/2015 <br /> Mr. Erickson provided a PowerPoint presentation and information about the Housing and <br /> Human Services Grant (HHSG) program and ZoomGrants. <br /> The Commission was advised that a total of $380,280.00 was available for allocation Human <br /> Services grants with funding coming from the CDBG ($216,000.00) and the General Fund <br /> ($164,280.00). Mr. Erickson noted that information received from HUD indicates a decrease <br /> of approximately 1.6% from them, and that 15% of CDBG funds had to be assigned for <br /> administrative services. He also advised that City Grant fund received from the General Fund <br /> had increased 2.67% from the previous year based on the City's General Fund per policy <br /> adopted in 2009. <br /> The Commission was advised by Mr. Erickson that a total of 27 applications had been received <br /> in the Human Services category by the January 27, 2014 deadline,which included five (5)from <br /> new applicants. Mr. Erickson then reviewed with Commissioners a chart summarizing the <br /> applications received by category and the amounts requested, as well as general comments <br /> applying the recommended funding allocation. <br /> Commissioners then reviewed the meeting process with Mr. Erickson. They discussed staff <br /> recommendations, presentations to be made by new applicants, and the funding allocation <br /> recommendations that will ultimately be forwarded to City Council for consideration. <br /> Chairperson Berger informed attendees that this Commission would not be making any <br /> funding recommendations on any housing-related applications and that those applications will <br /> be considered by the Housing Commission on March 20. <br /> Chairperson Berger opened the meeting for presentations. <br /> Susan H an, Pleasanton Unified School District / Student Health Services — advised that the <br /> existing nurses program has submitted a grant application for $5,000, to help assist students <br /> who are not insured and come from low and very-low income households. As a way of helping <br /> these students receive medical help, the nurses group will coordinate services with local <br /> dentists, optometrists, and other medical providers.
