BACKGROUND
The City of Pleasanton operates the Pleasanton Paratransit Door-to-Door Service,
which provides transportation to Pleasanton/Sunol residents 70 years of age or older,
and to disabled residents 18 years of age or older. The proposed FY15 operating
budget is $548,309. Funding for FY15 is anticipated to include $67,002 from MTC 4.5,
$93,402 from Alameda County Transportation Commission, $28,500 in fare box
receipts, and $359,405 from the City's General Fund.
The MTC has established an application and funding formula for the distribution of MTC
TDA 4.5 funds. Claims are reviewed by MTC and forwarded to the Alameda County
Board of Supervisors for consideration and approval. The City of Pleasanton's MTC 4.5
application for FY15 is for $67,002.
The Alameda CTC has established a similar funding formula for the distribution of
Measure B (dedicated sales tax) funds to provide special transportation for seniors and
persons with disabilities. Each eligible agency must submit an application, including an
eligibility statement and required Board/Council Resolution, which is reviewed by
Alameda CTC. Funding recommendations are then forwarded to the Paratransit
Advisory Planning Committee (PAPCO) for consideration, and on to the Alameda CTC
Board of Directors for final approval. The City of Pleasanton's Measure B application for
FY15 is for $93,402.
DISCUSSION
Pleasanton Paratransit Services will continue to operate its Door-to Door program and
collaborate with other regional transportation including Livermore Amador Valley Transit
Authority (LAVTA) and Senior Support Program of the Tri-Valley to improve mobility
management throughout the Tri-Valley.
The City will receive $42,772 in Alameda CTC Cycle 5 Gap Grant funding to continue
operations of the Downtown Route Shuttle (DTR) for FY 15. As part of the Gap Grant
funding, staff will continue to provide same day shuttle services, volunteer travel
training, outreach and education and mobility coordination with the Tri-Valley
transportation providers, Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) and Senior
Support Program on the Tri-Valley Volunteer Driver Program.
