THE CITY OF <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> LEAASrfON. _. <br /> April 15, 2014 <br /> Community Development <br /> Planning Division <br /> TITLE: INTRODUCTION OF AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 19 OF THE <br /> PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE TO IMPLEMENT THE CLIMATE <br /> ACTION PLAN BY REQUIRING THAT NEW CUL-DE-SAC STREETS <br /> ENABLE THROUGH ACCESS FOR PEDESTRIANS AND BICYCLISTS <br /> WHERE FEASIBLE <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The subject ordinance (Attachment 1) is a City-initiated amendment to the Pleasanton <br /> Municipal Code to require that new cul-de-sac streets provide through access for <br /> pedestrians and bicyclists where feasible. This amendment helps implement a Climate <br /> Action Plan strategy to improve transportation efficiency through design improvements. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION <br /> The Planning Commission recommended to the City Council approval of the proposed <br /> amendment to the Pleasanton Municipal Code by 5-0 vote on consent. The Planning <br /> Commission staff report and meeting minutes for February 26, 2014 are included as <br /> Attachment 3. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Introduce the attached draft ordinance amending Chapter 19.08 (Definitions) and <br /> Chapter 19.36 (Design Standards) of Title 19 (Subdivisions) of the Pleasanton <br /> Municipal Code (Case P14-0002). <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> No fiscal impact to the City or public services is anticipated. <br />
