Since the adoption of the resolution the City has finalized its Housing Element update
that includes information regarding the City's efforts to promote new affordable housing,
including the rezoning of properties. There has been considerable interest in the
development of these nine rezoned sites, as evidenced by entitlements for four large
scale apartment and mixed use developments totaling 1,127 units with one of these four
entitled projects having begun construction. Of the 1,127 units, 118 units will be
designated as affordable units, including three bedroom units. Additionally, in 2013 staff
met with non-profit developers to provide information on other available sites suitable for
new residential development and has met w ith the developers of new residential
projects and encouraged them to include affordable units with a greater number of
bedrooms in their developments. Based on these efforts, staff anticipates that future
affordable housing agreements will include a number of larger affordable units as
anticipated in the resolution.
Submitted By: Approved y:
rian Dolan Nelson Fialho
Director of City Manager
Community Development
Attachment:
1.
