411'urid- ! if CMAT
cue
From: Joanne Hall
Ater istrituticn )t 'ac cil
Sent: Tuesday, March 04, 2014 4:42 PM Packet
To: Anne Fox; Mayor and City Council .
Cc: Brian Dolan; Janice Stern; Maria Hoe y; PleasantontClerk
Subject: RE: East Side Specific Plan - place it on hold
Dear Ms. Fox:
Thank you for taking the time to write and share your concerns about the East Side Specific Plan. This
email acknowledges receipt of your email to the City Council and the City Manager. Thank you again
for your interest in the City of Pleasanton.
Joanne Hall
Public Information Officer
From: Anne Fox -
Sent: Tuesday, March 04, 2014 4:23 PM
To: Mayor and City Council
Subject: East Side Specific Plan - place it on hold
Hello,
The Chain of Lakes was supposed to be a recreational area and a community separator between the City of Livermore
and City of Pleasanton. If designed with recreation in mind, it could be a regional jewel that future generations could
enjoy.
As it is now, Pleasanton contemplates it being a dumping ground for high density housing.
I believe the East Side Specific Plan should be put on indefinite hold, that there should be a reassessment of the
recreational potential of the area, and that the City of Livermore and EBRPD and the Livermore Area Park District should
work with Pleasanton to design something we all as residents can be proud of. The East Side Specific Plan primarily
should be focused on recreation, not urban development.
Another issue is"the outside the UGB area" issue. Expanding the UGB requires a vote of the people. Unless the city
wishes to embark on years of litigation for violating the UGB,the 1996 UGB ballot separate measure should be adhered
to. From the UGB measure: "Upon the effective date of this initiative, the City, and its departments, boards,
commissions, officers and employees, shall not grant, or by inaction allow to be approved by operation of law, any
general plan amendment, rezoning, specific plan, subdivision map, conditional use permit, building permit or any other
discretionary entitlement, which is inconsistent with this initiative."
Thank you,
Anne Fox
Click here to report this email as spam.
1
