CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. 900 AN INTERIM ORDINANCE PLACING CERTAIN PROPERTY INTO AN S (STUDY) DISTRICT FOR FOUR MONTHS AND TEMPOraRILY AMENDING THE ZONING MAP ASSOCIATED WITH SAID PROPERTY, SAID ORDINANCE BEING ADOPTED AS AN URGENCY MEASURE. (ZONING UNIT MAP ~190) WHEREAS, Taubman Company, Inc., (Owner) owns 26 acres located on the northeast corner of Foothill Road and Stoneridge Drive; and WHEREAS, The Owner requested a modification to the General Plan designation on 23 acres of the property from "Public and Institutional" to "Commercial and Offices"; and WHEREAS, during the Public Hearing on the requested General Plan change concern over the nature of the development per- mitted under the existing zoning was raised by residents in the area; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to have the existing zoning re- viewed and studied to insure that the commercial or office development on the site be appropriate for the surround- ings; and /,.I . WHEREAS, the existing General Plan designation should not be removed .unless the property is placed in anS (Study) District to prevent development for a reasonable period while the proper zoning is studied. ..-~ NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES ORDAIN, ON AN URGENCY BASIS, THE FOLLOWING: Section 1. The property owned by Taubman Company, Inc., located on the northeast corner of Foothill Road and Stoneridge Drive, more particularly shown on Zoning Unit Map No. 190 attach- ed hereto as Exhibit A, is hereby classified as "S" (Study) District. Section 2. The Zoning Map of the City of Pleasanton, dated April 18, 1960, referred to in Section 2-12.12, Chapter 2 (Zoning) of Title II (Development and Zoning) of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton into Zoning Districts, which is on file in the office of the City Clerk, is hereby amended as shown on Zoning Unit Map #190. Section 3. This ordinance is declared to be adopted pursuant to Section 65858 of the Government Code of the State of Cali- fornia and is necessary and required to protect the public safety, health and welfare of the citizens of the City of Pleasanton in order to require development appropriate to the site and to surroundings.
