Pd~SOLUT I ON NO. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, ~ain Street of the Town of Pleasanton is part <br />of a through high~ay used by passenger automobiles and by auto- <br />mobile trucks traveling through central California to southern <br />Alameda County, Santa Clara County, San ~eteo County and 8an- <br />~rancisco; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, much of said through traffic consists of <br />heavily loaded trucks and trailers conveying produce and freight <br />between said areas; and <br /> <br /> ~}~P~EAS, said heavy traffic has caused and is causing <br />the pavement at the southerly end of ~ain Street between Bernal <br />Avenue and the right of way of the Southern Pacific Railroad Com- <br />pany to deteriorate and said portion of Nain Street now needs a <br />two inch topping of asphalt paving material to preserve said pave- <br />ment; <br /> <br /> NOW T~{E~'ORE, IT IS RESOLVED BY T~ CITY COUNCIL OF <br /> <br />T~ TO~ 0~' <br /> <br /> 1. That the City Council of the Town of Pleasanton <br /> is of the opinion and hereby aetermines that the improvement of <br /> said portion of ~ain Street from Bernal Avenue to the right of <br /> way of the Southern z'acific Railroad Company is of more than local <br /> interest and is of interest to the people of Alameda County and <br /> the State of California generally; <br /> <br /> 2. That it is necessary for the preservation and <br /> protection of the existing pavement on said portion of ~ain Street <br /> that a two inch asphalt topping be placed thereon at once~ <br /> <br /> ~. That the County of Alameda is respectfully re- <br /> quested to make an engineering survey of said street and the impr( <br /> ments required thereon, and to assist in the making of said im- <br /> provements~ <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
