<br /> their items in the correct conta:mer. City of Hayward staff believes that both of the above mentioned containers would be appropriate
<br /> for the location described. Containers will be serviced during each event and training will be provided to vendors prior to the event
<br /> where emphasize will be on thc,polystyrene ban and confirm how attendees should sort their generated waste.
<br /> Project Grant#: 13-64 City of Hayward,Mixed Recyclables Collection Services at Selected Hayward Unified School District(
<br /> HUSD)Schools,West County,$4,220.00-Funds from this grant will be used to continue work at Bowman Elementary School,
<br /> Palma Ceia Elementary,and S.:onebrae Elementary to become model recycling programs by expanding their programs and ensuring
<br /> their continuity,restart recycling programs at two elementary or middles schools,and provide assistance to implement organics
<br /> collection in the cafeteria where on-site staff support has been demonstrated.
<br /> Project Grant#: 13-66 Allen Temple Baptist Church,Put Waste in its Proper Place at Church and at Home,Oakland,West
<br /> County,$8,286.31 -Funds from this grant will be used to purchase items to enhance the recycling project at Allen Temple Baptist
<br /> Church. The program goals are to: 1)recycle at least 50%of the solid waste by diverting it into recycled waste or compostable waste;
<br /> 2)inspire the entire congregation to get involved in the church's waste diversion/recycling project so that they can replicate the
<br /> recycling practices in their homes and share the program benefits with their neighbors;and 3)to reduce waste disposal costs by at least
<br /> 15%.
<br /> Project Grant#: 13-67 Oakland Unified School District,Sustainability Program Project,Oakland,West County,$43,750.00-
<br /> Funds from this grant will be used to establish a universal and standardized system that provides schools with an outline of policy,
<br /> procedures,supplies,and the support personnel needed for an effective waste reduction and sorting program while allowing for
<br /> adaptation at individual sites.
<br /> Project Grant#: 13-68 Department of the Environment City and County of San Francisco,Environment Now,San Francisco,
<br /> West County,$4,828.00-Funds from this grant will be used to prepare participants for the new green economy,achieve behavior
<br /> change in those who work,live and play in San Francisco,and enlist a wider range of the population in environmental work.
<br /> The total 2013 Expenditure Plan budget of$225,000 for Project Grants was approved by the Board along with the option to
<br /> carry over all unexpended funds from previous grant years and expend if necessary. A total of$253,547.89 in Project Grants
<br /> was awarded.

<br /> Funds from this grant will be used to build at least 10 more book collection stands to keep increasing the number of drop off locations
<br /> in Oakland,Alameda,Berkeley and Orinda. Future plans are to expand locations to San Leandro,Albany,Lafayette and others.
<br /> Remaining funds will be used to purchase another 1000 reusable canvas bags to be handed out at back to school 2012 and at the
<br /> annual Read Across America event.
<br /> Multi-Year Grant#: 13-65(1)Castro Valley Sanitary District(CVSan),Multi-Family Food Scrap Recycling in Castro Valley,
<br /> Castro Valley,West County,$5,266.66-Funds from this grant will be used to provide access to the third(organics including food
<br /> scrap recycling)of three primary municipal solid waste services(organics,recycling,and garbage)and education that single-family
<br /> residences have appreciated in Castro Valley for over 10 years.
<br /> The total 2013 Expenditure Plan budget of$0 for Multi-Year Grants was approved by the Board along with the option to
<br /> carry over all unexpended funds from previous grant years and expend if necessary. A total of$9,266.66 in Multi-Year
<br /> Grants was awarded.
