Collector a~q only <br />as taxpayers' collecting ~g~nt and assumes n9 responsibili~ for <br />~e loss of any such items or the proceeds thereof in transit or <br />for losses r~sulting from tlle failure of any bank ~e~ as a collec- <br />tion ag~. <br /> Pers*nal checks drawn on banks outside of Alameda Coun~ <br /> and Ci~ of San Francisco'~ill not be acceptM for tax payments. <br /> Such re~iRances should be made by ba~ drafts~ cashier or certi- <br /> fied che~ks, Railway express or ~ost office money orders. <br /> All checks, drafts, etc., must be made payable toilS: ~ <br />~a~Tax Collector of Alameda Count, and will be accepted <br /> only if payable at par. <br /> If a check or draft was in payment of a tax hill ~e re- <br /> ceipt given shall be void and of no effect should said check or <br /> draft be not paid on presentation. <br /> All remittances at risk of sender and ~ust be ~ the Tax Collec- <br /> tor's o~ce before 5 o'clock P.M. on December 5th and 5 o'clock P.M. <br /> on April 20th. to avoid delinquent penalties. <br /> Postage stamps will not be accepted in payment of taxes. <br /> Proper~ cannot be located on the assessment roll by house <br /> numbers or names of streets. Taxpayers should give a full legal <br /> description of the same as it appears in the Deed, Certificate of <br /> Title or previous coun~ tax bill, preferably the la,er. <br /> If you find "SOLD TO STATE" stamped on your tax bill it <br /> is an indication of delinquent taxes for a previous year. To ascer- <br /> tain ~e amount necessary to redeem write directly to Co~ <br /> Auditor, Court Honse, Oakland, California. <br /> Delinquents must pay additional penalties on redemption as <br /> follows: Beginning luly 1, of the year of sale to the State, on the <br /> amount of unpaid taxes for that year, one per cent per month for <br /> the first year, then one-half per cent a mont~ to the time of <br /> redemption. Beginning July 1, of each subsequent year, on the <br /> amount of unpaid taxes for that year, one per cent a month for <br /> the first year thereafter, ~. half per cent a month to the <br /> time of redemption. <br /> Taxes are levied on both real and personal properS, as it <br /> exists at 12 o'clock noon, on the first Monday in March. <br /> Subsequent removal or chan~e of owfiershlp does not relleve <br /> · e real e~tate of the personal proper~ tax lien, and the Tax Col- <br /> lector cannot credit payments for real proper~ taxes unless the <br /> personal property tax has been paid. <br /> Veterans' Exemption requires ammal filing with the Coun~ <br /> Assessor, between the first Monday in March and ~e last Mon- <br /> day in June. <br /> The Tax Collector cannot chanffe assessments. If any assess- <br /> ment is incorrect, the matter should be taken up wkh the Coun~ <br /> <br /> Tax Colle~or o~ Alameda Coun~ <br /> <br /> <br />
