To establish a clear regulatory process to ensure that additions, remodels, and new <br /> development in the Downtown Specific Plan Area are designed and constructed such <br /> that they are compatible in scale, massing, lheight, setbacks, architectural style, <br /> architectural features, level of detailing,and materials with the historic character of the <br /> Specific Plan Area. <br /> 23. To prevent the demolition of appropriately-designated historic resources which can <br /> otherwise reasonably be preserved. <br /> —To ensure that the design of new buildings and modifications to existing heritage <br /> buildings and heritage neighborhoods are compatible with the Downtown's <br /> traditional design character and scale. <br /> Plan Area's historic resources. <br /> Page 6 of 12 <br />
