RESOLUTION NO. 14-654 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ADOPTING AMENDMENTS TO THE DOWNTOWN DESIGN GUIDELINES WHEREAS, at its meeting of October 18, 2012, the City Council approved the formation of the Historic Preservation Task Force to review the current Downtown Specific Plan and Downtown Design Guidelines and to make recommendations to the City Council to help clarify City policy on historic preservation and development review processes in the Historic Downtown; and WHEREAS, the Task Force held 12 Task Force meetings, four public outreach meetings, and one public workshop, reviewed selected sections of the Downtown Design Guidelines, and recommended amendments to the Downtown Design Guidelines; and WHEREAS, on November 13, 2013, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on the proposed amendments to the Downtown Design Guidelines and recommended to the City Council that it adopt the proposed amendments; and WHEREAS, duly noticed public hearings were held on December 17, 2013, and January 21, 2014, at which time the City Council reviewed the proposed amendments to the Downtown Design Guidelines and considered all related reports, documents, testimony, and the recommendations of the Task Force and Planning Commission; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds, based on the information in the report and testimony at the public hearings, that the adoption of the amendments to the Downtown Design Guidelines will help protect historic residential properties that are valued by the community from possible demolition and help streamline and eliminate uncertainty in the City's review process and eliminate inconsistencies between the Specific Plan policies and Downtown Design Guidelines. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: SECTION 1. The City Council adopts the amendments to the Downtown Design Guidelines, as set forth in Exhibit A, attached hereto and made part of this resolution by reference. SECTION 2. The Council finds that these amendments to the Downtown Design Guidelines will not cause a significant effect on the environment as provided in Title 14 California Code of Regulations Section 15061(b)(3). SECTION 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at a regular meeting held on January 21, 2014.
