Attachment 1 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> DECLARING A WATER SHORTAGE, AND IMPLEMENTING STAGE 1 OF THE <br /> WATER SHORTAGE CONTINGENCY PLAN BY REQUESTING THAT ALL WATER <br /> CUSTOMERS VOLUNTARILY REDUCE WATER USAGE BY TWENTY PERCENT <br /> WHEREAS, on January 17, 2014, California adopted a Proclamation of a State of <br /> Emergency based on record dry conditions and low water supplies in the snowpack, reservoirs <br /> and river systems in the State; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Proclamation ordered municipalities to immediately implement their <br /> water shortage contingency plans; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton had previously adopted the Tri Valley Water <br /> Retailers Water Shortage Contingency Plan (May 2009), as well as an Urban Water <br /> Management Plar (June 2011), which include water shortage contingency plans. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: <br /> SECTION 1. As directed by California's Proclamation of a State of Emergency (Jan. <br /> 17, 2014), the City Council adopts its Phase 1 Water Shortage Contingency Plan and requests <br /> that all water customers voluntarily reduce water usage by twenty percent (20%), and directs <br /> City staff to take similar measures for City operations. <br /> PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at <br /> a regular meeting held on February 4, 2014. <br /> I, Karen Diaz, City Clerk of the City of Pleasanton, California, certify that the foregoing <br /> resolution was adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting held on February 4, 2014, by <br /> the following vote: <br /> Ayes: <br /> Noes: <br /> Absent: <br /> Abstain: <br /> Karen Diaz, City Clerk <br /> APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br /> Jonathan Lowell, City Attorney <br />
