ATTACHMENT 3 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> _ ; �� , ; Parks and Recreation <br /> "' "" ''' Commission Minutes <br /> DRAFT- EXCERPT <br /> City Council Chambers — 200 Old Bernal Avenue, Pleasanton, CA <br /> December 12, 2013 — 7:00 p.m. <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairperson Streng called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Commissioners Present: Jack Balch, Brad Hottle, Teddy Kinzer, David Lambert, Deborah <br /> Wahl, and Chairperson Joe Streng. <br /> Commissioners Absent: Sophie Brown. <br /> 4. Continued Review of the Elements and Design of the Oak Woodland Area <br /> Adioininq and Associated with the Bernal Community Park, Phase II <br /> Ms. Andrade-Wax introduced Bernal Community Park, Phase II, Steve Bocian, Assistant City <br /> Manager, and Bill Harris, Harris & Associates. <br /> Mr. Bocian reviewed with the Commission a PowerPoint presentation that addressed some of <br /> the concerns that had been raised by Commissioners at the October 10, 2013 meeting. These <br /> concerns included: 1) an additional trail entry point in the area adjacent to Bernal Phase I access <br /> road on Valley Avenue to create a natural "extension" to the Marilyn Murphy Kane Trail; 2) the <br /> retention of open space to accommodate the placement of public art that is to be identified <br /> sometime in the future; and 3) providing some recognition for the hay fields that have been <br /> farmed on the property for a number of years. Additionally, the Commission had elected not to <br /> take any action on the plan at this meeting pending further review of the potential to include a <br /> dog park in this phase of the development. <br /> The Commission was advised by Mr. Bocian that the trail entry concern was being addressed <br /> with the addition of another entry being added to the design, and interpretative signage was <br /> Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes <br /> December 12, 2013 <br /> Page 1 <br />
