BACKGROUND <br /> Through the Harrington Art Partnership (Another Harrington Arts Partnership Piece for <br /> You), Nancy and Gary Harrington have graciously donated the bronze and metal <br /> sculpture "Rock, Paper, Scissors," by artist Kevin Box, to add to the City's public art <br /> collection. In 2011, the sculpture was reviewed and approved by the City's Public Art <br /> Selection Subcommittee (PASS), the Civic Arts Commission, and the City Council. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> At its August 16, 2013 meeting, the Public Art Selection Subcommittee (PASS) <br /> discussed a variety of potential locations and selected the Pleasanton Chambers of <br /> Commerce building located at 777 Peters Avenue. The property owners (Jim and Jo <br /> Betty Allen), have agreed and signed the City's "Letter of Intent to Participate" <br /> agreement which states that they agree and understand the public art piece will be <br /> placed on their property located at 777 Peters Avenue. <br /> If approved, the sculpture would be installed on the east side of the Pleasanton <br /> Chamber of Commerce alongside St. John's Street. This location will provide strong <br /> visibility for downtown visitors. <br /> At its regular meeting on January 6, 2014, the Civic Arts Commission reviewed the <br /> pieces and the proposed location. The Commission asked detailed questions about the <br /> location and visibility. The Commissioners unanimously agreed to recommend <br /> placement of this piece at 777 Peters Avenue. <br /> The public art piece helps enhance this particular location of town.
