To: Pleasanton City Clerk
ubject: FW: Comments on Historic Taskforce recommendations at tonights city council meeting
--'A 0■!AL.
'r:>vi ei0 io the City Council
Aft@ ': stribution of Packet
From: Joseph Hernan]
Sent: Tuesday, January 21, 2014 12:25 PM Dale
To: Lisa Tarnow
Subject: Comments on Historic Taskforce recommendations at tonights city council meeting
Hello Lisa,
I am not able to attend lonights planning meeting due to work and family obligations, but i wanted to
provide comments about two items from the Historic Taskforce recomendations that will be presented
at tonights city council rneeting: items 4 and 7.
I live at 4582 2nd street and have seen my neighborhood negatively impacted by recent projects; the
PHA's goals can help prevent such future impact.
STORY POLES: I am in favor of requiring this. Information provided on the yellow cards is not
adequate to allow neighbors to truly understand how large an addition, new home, etc, will be. In
some cases, the height of a proposed addition is portrayed on the yellow card as being much smaller
than it actually is when viewed from the street. The use of story poles and mesh will address this
roblem.
FAR: I also support PHA's position with respect to FAR. Keeping projects to a size that is
appropriate for our neighborhood is essential to preserving its character. The trend towards projects
that are excessive in size has already had a negative effect. Setting an appropriate FAR will prevent
this from happening. Also critical is to only approve variances that have extremely strong
justification. FAR variances have been granted on a seemingly routine basis, creating the exact
overly-large projects that FAR was created to prevent.
I appreciate your time and having my comments included in tonights meeting.
Sincerely,
Joseph Hernan
Click here to report this email as spam.
1
