Subject: FW: Cellular and Broadband, a F. ;h' ' a`PMATERIAL
A t ))PSt6tNi1tico of Packet
From: Keith Turner
Sent: Thursday, December 12, 2013 2:01 PM t.
To: Pleasanton City Clerk
Subject: Cellular and Broadband
I understand that a City-sponsored survey of local businesses produced high marks for Pleasanton as a place to do
business. Atop the short list of criticisms, however, was poor cellular and broadband services.
I believe that it's not just the business community that's frustrated with poor cell service, but families trying to connect
with each other on a daily basis from such locales as the library, schools and sports fields. It's also problematic for those
who abandoned home land lines and are exclusively mobile.
Last month the Planning Commission unanimously endorsed revisions to the antiquated ordinance that will allow service
providers to close coverage gaps throughout Pleasanton. On Tuesday, December 17,the City Council will have the final
say on the changes.
As one of the city's largest employers, I urge you support updating the ordinance. On behalf of the many Safeway
employees who live and or work in Pleasanton, I appreciate the staff's timely and thoughtful response to a citywide
problem.
Thank you—
Keith Turner
Director, Public and Government Affairs
Safeway Inc.
