,,,THE CITY OF /1
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT /V'
pLEASANTON.
November 19, 2013
Economic Development
TITLE: ACCEPTANCE OF PLEASANTON DOWNTOWN BUSINESS
IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT ADVISORY BOARD 2013 REPORT AND
2014 BUDGET, AND INTENT TO LEVY THE ASSESSMENT FOR 2014
SUMMARY
The Pleasanton Downtown Association (PDA) Advisory Board 2013 report and budget
for 2014 are attached. The Advisory Board is recommending no modifications to the
District boundaries and no change in the method of levying the assessment for 2014. It
is proposed that the budget and the assessment levy be heard at a December 3, 2013
public hearing by the City Council.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution accepting the 2013 annual report and 2014 budget prepared by the
Advisory Board and set the public hearing date for December 3, 2013 to levy the annual
assessment.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The City agreement with the PDA requires the City to match the annual assessments
paid by businesses in the District. In 2013, the City match from the General Fund was
approximately $65,500. Staff anticipates the 2014 match (if approved) will again be
approximately $65,500. In addition to the City's direct participation, the City also
contributes to the PDA by funding staff time to administer the PDA assessments and
agreement, assistance and staff time for special events, as well as the cost to maintain
downtown planters, clean sidewalks, coordinate garbage pickup and other infrastructure
and logistical efforts.
