Public Comment
Steve Morsilli, Pleasanton Seahawks, thanked Pleasanton for its ongoing support and provided a small
token of appreciation to each member of the Council. He reported that the team was recently honored
by US Swimming as a Gold Medal Club.
Mayor Thorne said the Council is extremely proud of the Seahawks and noted that one team member
was a finalist in the most recent Olympic trials.
Dan Moore shared his concerns over the Summerhill project currently before the Planning Commission.
He said that residents of the Parkside neighborhood are extremely upset about the rezoning that will
allow a high density residential project to be constructed on commercial property located only 200 yards
from Parkside homes and directly across from Hart Middle School. The majority of residents feel the
project will have significant negative impacts on the local neighborhood and should not be allowed to
move forward at this location. He referred to a letter from Pleasanton Unified School District's
Superintendent which asked the city to address traffic and safety concerns that would result from the
project. Parkside residents, which Mayor Thorne noted comprised the majority of the audience, will be
meeting with the Commission to discuss the project and he asked that the Council look seriously these
impacts before allowing the project to move forward.
City Council Minutes Page 2 of 7 October 1, 2013
