Attachment 5
19v 4 k 7 ALAMEDA COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT, ZONE 7
100 NORTH CANYONS PARKWAY, LIVERMORE, CA 94551-9486 • PHONE (925)454-5000
4k...
.Fuses
October 31, 2013
Nelson Fialho, City Manager
City of Pleasanton
P.O. Box 520
Pleasanton, CA 94566
Subject: Support for Recycled Water Feasibility Study and Water Supply Contracts with
DSRSD and DERWA and Continuing Further Recycled Water Program
Development
Dear Mr. Fialho:
This letter is sent in support of the "Recycled Water Feasibility Study and Water Supply
Contracts with DSRSD and DERWA and Continuing Further Recycled Water Program
Development." As you probably know, Zone 7 is a co-permittee of the Recycled Water Master
Distribution Permit for the Livermore Valley (Order No. 93-159) Zone 7's participation in
regional water recycling programs and projects is to encourage a reasonable and prudent
expansion of recycled water use in the Livermore-Amador Valley as a key component of a
reliable, diversified water supply portfolio Expanded use of recycling in the Valley is also
considered in Zone 7's recent Water Supply Evaluation. As a result, one of Zone 7's Strategic
Planning Priorities is to"Work with retailers to develop more local water supplies, including the
use of more recycled water." As you probably know, Zone 7 staff took an active role in
developing the Recycled Water Feasibility Study under consideration. The study outlines a
rational approach, which protects the Main Groundwater Basin while allowing diversification of
water supply. The City is to be applauded for developing this Study. Continuing regional
partnerships, as embodied in this Study and these Agreements, will be critical to achieving the
goal of increasing recycled water use in the Valley.
Therefore, Zone 7 strongly supports this action and requests that the City of Pleasanton approve
the Study and Contracts and authorize its staff to continue to further recycled water program
development in the City.
erely,
, 4
G F. Duerig
General Manag r
cc: Daniel Smith, Carol Mahoney, Amparo Flores
