BACKGROUND
Sycamore Tank is an 8 million gallon water storage tank below ground located at the
end of Sycamore Creek Way. The site has two undeveloped grass hills that drain
across the property. The existing site surface is primarily dirt with little vegetation. The
existing drainage ditches have silted over and require maintenance. A iew concrete V-
ditch is required to direct water from the south property line to the storm drain system on
Sycamore Creek Way. The existing soil will be amended and hydro seeded with native
grass to prevent further erosion of the tank site.
DISCUSSION
Bids
Sealed bids for this project were opened on July 24, 2013. Three bids were received
ranging from $62,990.00 to $99,762.00 (see Attachment 1, Bid Summary). The
engineer's estimate for this project was $85,000.00.
The low bid of $62,990.00 was received from S R P Company, of Antioch, California.
Since all bid documents were found to be in order and past work performed by this
contractor was verified to be satisfactory, staff is recommending award of the
construction contract to this firm.
Budget
Staff recommends that the construction contingency amount for this project be set at
$6,300.00, approximately 10% of the construction contract, due to potential unforeseen
conditions that could become apparent during construction.
Schedule
The proposed schedule for the subject project is as follows:
Approval of Plans and Specifications and Award of Contract August 20, 2013
Start of Construction September 2013
End of Construction October 2013
Submitted y: Fiscal Review: Approve by:
Brian Dolan Emily Wagner Nelson Fialho
Director of Director of Finance City Manager
Community Development
Attachments:
1.
