We strongly believe that these parks are
valuable community assets that are in need of updating in order to better serve our residents and visitors.
We have spent a great amount of time reviewing the proposed design concepts and after much discussion we
strongly support the adoption of Version A,which includes completely filling in and coved ig the ditch. We
believe this version provides the most function and flexibility for the park and is also the safest for our park
guests. We also want to strongly encourage you to fund this project in the upcoming CIP fiscal year budget.
The cost of improving these two visible and popular parks is only a fraction of other projects in our city and
would provide a wonderful gathering place, family play area, and an alternative park location of activities.
Additionally, the Jurisdictional Report that was funded and created to review these parks has a five year shelf
life. It is crucial that these park improvements be done prior to the report expiring otherwise the report will
have to be redone and greater expense will be incurred.
We are excited to see these parks improved for many reasons. They are a gateway to downtown and one of
the first things many people see as they enter downtown Pleasanton.Additionally, renovating the parks will
improve upon our beautiful Firehouse Art Center and increase the usability of that space. We are eager to be
a part of this process and thank you for including our input as you move this project forward.
Best regards,
Laura Olson
Executive Director
Pleasanton Downtown Association
