existing high crown and steep cross slopes. This roadway section was on last year's <br /> resurfacing program but was postponed due to required underground water pipeline <br /> system modifications. The water project is nearing completion making the roadway <br /> ready for resurfacing. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> Bids <br /> Sealed bids for this project were opened on May 21, 2013. There were a total of seven <br /> bids received, ranging between the low bid amount of $1,007,765.70 from Ghilotti <br /> Construction Company, to a high bid of $1,454,156.20. The low bid is approximately <br /> 1% lower than the engineer's estimate of $1,017,981 (see attached Bid Summary). <br /> Past work performed by Ghilotti Construction Company was verified to be satisfactory. <br /> Therefore, staff recommends award of the construction contract to Ghilotti Construction <br /> Company. <br /> Budget <br /> The Stoneridge Drive portion of this project was authorized under the FY 2012/2013 <br /> Capital Improvement Program CIP budget for design and construction with an approved <br /> budget of $900,000 (CIP No. 125024). This portion of the project is funded by Alameda <br /> County Surplus Property Authority. Staff is recommending the transfer of $271,980 <br /> from the Annual Resurfacing of Various City Streets project, CIP NO. 125003, to fund <br /> the Vineyard Avenue portion of the project.
