8.3 After Hours Telephone Response <br /> An employee shall be compensated for responding to City phone calls or texts on work <br /> related matters from authorized City personnel after normal work hours. For calls that <br /> last up to fifteen (15) minutes, the employee shall be paid fifteen (15) minutes pay. For <br /> calls that last fifteen (15) to thirty (30) minutes, the employee shall be paid thirty (30) <br /> minutes pay. For calls that last longer than thirty (30) minutes, the employee shall be <br /> paid for all time worked calculated to the nearest one-tenth (1/10) of an hour and paid at <br /> the appropriate rate. <br /> Employees in the Information Technology Department may be requested to perform <br /> work remotely and after regular work hours rather than be called back to work in <br /> accordance with Section 8.2. In such cases, said employees will be paid one (1) hour of <br /> pay or actual time worked, whichever is greater. <br /> 8.4 Compensatory Time Off(CTO) <br /> Employees may be compensated for overtime worked either by monetary payment or by <br /> compensatory time off, at the option of the employee. Compensatory time shall accrue at <br /> the rate of one and one-half(1-1/2) times the overtime hours worked. Compensatory time <br /> off which accrues in excess of eighty (80) hours must be liquidated by monetary <br /> payment. All monetary payments for overtime must be paid not later than the next <br /> biweekly payroll following the pay period in which the overtime was worked. Utilization <br /> of compensatory time off shall be by mutual agreement between the Department Head <br /> and the employee. Upon termination, the employee shall be paid for his/her unused <br /> compensatory time. Overtime shall not be assigned on the basis of employee's choice of <br /> monetary payment or compensatory time off. <br /> Employees may, twice per year, be paid for all accrued and unused compensatory time, <br /> up to an amount not exceeding eighty (80) hours per calendar year. Said payment shall <br /> be made on the first pay day in June and on the first pay day in December. Written <br /> requests for payment must be made by the employee fifteen (15) days in advance of the <br /> first payday in June and December. <br /> 8.5 Bilingual Pay <br /> Effective the first full pay period after July 1, 2014 (July 5, 2014), the City will establish <br /> a Bilingual Pay program. The City agrees to pay a premium of fifty dollars ($50.00) per <br /> pay period to employees with bilingual skills, who occupy positions where the City has <br /> determined said skills are necessary or desired to serve the Pleasanton community. <br /> Qualifying languages for bilingual assignment include: <br /> • Spanish <br /> • Mandarin <br /> • Any foreign language as determined by the City <br /> -13 - <br />
