Karen Diaz
From: Joanne Hall
Sent: Friday, May 03, 2013 3:28 PM
To: Pleasanton City Clerk
Cc: Brian Dolan; Maria Hoey
Subject: FW: Measure PP
From: Matt Sullivan [
Sent: Friday, May 03, 2013 2:13 PM
To: Mayor and City Council; Nelson Fialho; Jonathan Lowell
Subject: Fwd: Measure PP
Dear Mayor and Council,
Your decision at the April 16th Council meeting to exclude roads from Measure PP is quite concerning. As I'm
sure you realize, the referended Oak Grove project consisted of roads and the locations of future lots only.
Based on your decision, the LIn's could conceivably come back with the same project with the same road
without the lot locations - which would cut 40 feet off the top of a ridge and and traverse it for over a mile - and
it would be exempt from PP. Do you really believe this meets the intent of PP and the will of the voters who
enacted it?
If your concern is the Happy Valley Bypass Road or Sycamore Heights access to Lund Ranch 2 there are other
ways to deal with it as I outlined below in my email to you prior to the meeting on 4/16. If your intent is to open
the hillsides to development against the will of the voters, you have succeeded. There's one problem with this -
only the voters can change legislation enacted by a voter initiative. If you believe roads should be exempt
from Measure PP, continue the second reading of the ordinance indefinitely and put the question on the ballot to
see if the voters agree with you. The integrity of the public process is at stake.
Thank you
Matt Sullivan
Forwarded message
From: Matt Sullivan <
Date: Tue, Apr 16, 2013 at 9:53 AM
Subject: Measure PP
To: citycouncil(iIci.pleasanton.ca.us, Nelson Fialho <NFialho%ucityofplcasantonca.govt>
Dear Mayor and Council,
As a former City Councilmember that was deeply involved with Measure PP, I wanted to provide my
perspective and recommendations regarding the issues you will be considering tonight.
1
