This message acknowledges receipt of your email. Please rest assured that the City
Council will have the benefit of your comments.
Kind Regards,
Joanne Hall
Public Information Officer
City of Pleasanton
From: Annalisa Herzog [
Sent: Sunday, March 31, 2013 3:45 PM
To: Mayor and City Council
Subject: April 2nd Agenda - Development and Measure PP
To our Mayor and City Council:
I am sorry that we are not available to attend in person the City Council meeting this Tuesday, April 2nd, with
an agenda item important to us—development, but work commitments prevent our attendance. My family
has lived in Pleasanton for 24 years. We have raised our children in this wonderful and welcoming
community. However, we are dismayed at the prolonged disputes involving our community over continuous
and unnecessary development in our hills. We thought matters were put to rest by the passage of the "Save
Our Hills", Measure PP over four years ago. As a reminder,
• Measure PP prohibits housing units and structures from being developed on slopes of 25% or
greater or within 100 vertical feet of a ridgeline;
• Measure PP was passed by a majority of Pleasanton voters;
• Measure PP can only be amended or repealed by the voters of Pleasanton at a city general
election;
• Measure PP overrides any existing General Plan.
The residents of Pleasanton spoke with a common voice for the benefit of the whole Pleasanton community--
Preserve the hills within and surrounding our community. Now, the city planning staff is undermining the
democratic electoral process, and the Planning Commission, by limiting the definition of a "structure" to not
include a road. The City Council and the Planning Commission must act for the benefit of the whole
-ommunity and not appease special interests. We ask that you support the Planning Commission, and respect
.ne vote of the people of Pleasanton. Enforce Measure PP and prevent roads/structures from marring our
hills.
t
