Box 520
Pleasanton, CA 94566-0802
www.pleasantonrecycles.org
From: Andy Burstein [
Sent: Tuesday, April 16, 2013 1:48 PM
To: Mayor and City Council
Subject: Measure PP prohibits road construction
Dear Members of the Pleasanton City Council,
I am writing to urge you to vote to affirm that the measure PP ban on structures also includes a ban
on roads.
I believe this follows both the letter of the law and the spirit of measure PP.
It follows the letter, since common usage of the term "structure" in the engineering and construction
industry includes roads, as Pleasanton's own Planning Commission has twice confirmed
unanimously.
It follows the spirit of the proposition as well, since PP was intended to stop construction and grading
on our hillsides. Constructing roadways on steep slopes will clearly require massive amounts of
grading and will have a major, visible impact on our hillsides.
I know that many people want to change what PP means so they can build new roads that will bypass
traffic in their own neighborhoods. But the proper and legal way for them to do this is to get a new
law passed, not to ignore the clear meaning of the existing law.
Sincerely,
Andy Burstein

Click here to report this email as spam.
t
