<br /> diversion. Students in grades 9-12 will investigate the waste stream in the Visual Art Department by auditing a sample of
<br /> trash cans;identify a waste challenge(recyclables in the garbage,too much wasted paper,etc.)organize a waste reduction
<br /> campaign specific to their department and then report on their results to school administration as a model for organizing a
<br /> school-wide waste reduction effort. Visual Arts students will also conduct a school-wide peer education campaign with
<br /> incentives for student participation in suggesting waste reduction strategies.

<br /> grant will allow St.Michael's School to build 6 wood waste/recycling areas on campus. These stations would be on
<br /> wheels for easy transport to dumpsters and for relocating around campus when there is a special event. In addition night
<br /> time office cleaning crew staff and those that use the campus on weekends and during summer break will be educated on
<br /> the importance of recycling and eliminating waste.

<br /> County,$720.00-Funds from this grant would be used to purchase Slim Jim recycling containers and place them
<br /> throughout the Livermore High School campus and classrooms.

<br /> County,$599.71-Funds from this grant will help to scale educational technology to accommodate increased class sizes,

<br /> Funds from this grant will be used to create a food scraping service linked with the schools daily lunch program.The
<br /> refuse will be combined with the schools garden compost to enhance the garden and its numerous planting beds. From

<br /> students will gain awareness of where wastes go and how they can be productively collected for useful purposes.

<br /> producing a work product for gardening. The actual composting facility is to be designed and built by the Construction
<br /> Technology classes and initial compost and worm casting enhancement utilized by the Culinary Arts Green Academy for

<br /> this grant will be used to fund Operation Green Screen,the showing of films tri-annually free of charge to the general
<br /> public,providing awareness on environmental issues such as waste prevention and recycling.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 12-13 Sadie Weinberger,Food Waste Reduction and Nutrition in the Alameda Food Bank,
<br /> Alameda,West County,$3,000.00-Funds from this grant will be used to create a recipe database whereby recipients of
<br /> food bank products can make use of all their ingredients in the most economical,time-efficient,and healthy way. This
<br /> project will significantly reduce the amount of food wasted by food bank constituents. Also a website will be created
<br /> wherein users can find a list of recipes by using a search tool that searches by ingredients.
