THE CITY OF
pL€ASANTON< CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
March 5, 2013
Community Development
Planning Division
TITLE: P12-1785, CITY OF PLEASANTON — INTRODUCE AN ORDINANCE TO
AMEND TITLE 18 OF THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE TO
COMPLY WITH CALIFORNIA HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE
SECTIONS 17021.5 AND 17021.6 AND WITH THE 2012 PLEASANTON
GENERAL PLAN HOUSING ELEMENT PERTAINING TO HOUSING
FOR AGRICULTURAL EMPLOYEES
SUMMARY
The subject is introduction of a City-initiated amendment to the Pleasanton Municipal
Code to broaden opportunities for farm-worker housing. The Pleasanton General Plan
Housing Element identifies farm-workers as a group with a special housing need and
the State of California Employee Housing Act includes requirements for local
jurisdictions to provide for employee housing. There is little agricultural land within the
City of Pleasanton and therefore the impact of the proposed amendment will be
minimal.
PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION
Recommended approval to the City Council by 5-0 vote.
RECOMMENDATION
Introduce the attached draft ordinance, amending various chapters of Title 18 of the
Pleasanton Municipal Code.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
No fiscal impact to the City or public services is anticipated.
