BACKGROUND
The preparation of an East Pleasanton Specific Plan is called for in the City's General
Plan. In May 2012 the City Council approved the formation of an 18- member East
Pleasanton Specific Plan Task Force, with the following composition:
• Two Planning Commissioners
• One Parks and Recreation Commissioner
• One Housing Commissioner
• 6 Neighborhood representatives
• Three major property owners
• Five at -large representatives
The names of Task Force members are shown in Attachment 1.
DISCUSSION
As a result of the November 2012 general election, Karla Brown (who serves as an at-
large representative of the East Pleasanton Specific Plan Task Force) is now a City
Council member. Consequently, the City Council is being asked to either appoint a new
at -large member of the Task Force, or formally change the composition of the Task Force
to include City Councilmember representation. If the decision is made to include City
Council members on the Task Force, these members would act as co- chairs for the Task
Force rather than the Planning Commission members.
If the City Council's decision is to retain the original Task Force composition, Council
member Karla Brown should nominate a Pleasanton resident to replace her, and the City
Council should confirm the appointment. Solicitation of interested applicants would follow
the City's regular public outreach and recruitment process. Formal ratification of the
selected candidate would occur at a regular meeting of the City Council.
Submitte by: Approved •y:
. /
Brian Dolan
Director of Community Development
Nelson Fialho
City Manager
Attachments:
1.
