Vice-Mayor Cook-Kallio said she didn't believe it to be such a time sensitive matter that it needed to
come forward this January. She recommended that they discuss it again during the Council's priority
setting.
Councilmembers Brown and Pentin indicated their support to bring the issue back as part of the larger
Municipal Code changes, while the Mayor and Vice-Mayor preferred to look at is part of the larger
priorities. Without three votes to agendize it at an earlier date, staff agreed to include the item on the list
of priorities for the Council's 2013 workshop.
Mayor Thorne said he discussed an issue with the City Attorney and City Manager that he had also
intended to raise here but has since changed his mind. Many have read in the papers, although they
reported the details incorrectly, that he has been looking for a way to more effectively use the first part
of the Council meeting. He stressed that he never recommended that the entirely of Meeting Open to
the Public be moved to the end of the meeting, nor has he recommended that they lessen the three-
minute time limit. He has since learned from staff that the Council does have the ability to adjust the
agenda on a meeting by meeting basis.
COUNCIL REPORTS
Vice-Mayor Cook-Kallio reported that Irvington High School as well as two other Pleasanton schools
will advance to the state finals in We the People.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:21 p.m. The Council extended a
tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military. We wish to honor the memories of those
who have died in past wars in defense of our country, including those who have died in the current
conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Respectfully submitted,
Karen Diaz
City Clerk
City Council Minutes Page 7 of 7 December 4, 2012
