THE CITY OF I w
- "' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT 1L)
pL£ASANTONo
December 4, 2012
Finance
TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION LEVYING THE PLEASANTON DOWNTOWN
BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT ASSESSMENT FOR 2013
SUMMARY
The Pleasanton Downtown Association (PDA) Advisory Board report and budget for
2013 were presented to and accepted by the City Council on November 20, 2012. The
PDA Advisory Board report and budget recommends no modifications to the Pleasanton
Downtown Business Improvement District (District) boundaries and no change in the
method of levying the assessment for 2013. Based on this, the Council is being asked
to approve and levy the assessment for 2013.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Council:
1. Open and close the public hearing
2. Adopt Resolution levying the Pleasanton Downtown Business Improvement
District Assessment for 2013.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The City contract with the PDA requires the City to match the annual assessments paid
by businesses in the District. In 2013, the City's matching funds (budgeted in the
General Fund) will be approximately $65,500. In addition to the direct City contribution,
the City contributes approximately $61,500 in indirect funding which includes staff time
to administer the PDA assessments and contract, assistance with the Hometown
Holiday Celebration, as well as, the cost to maintain downtown planters, cleaning
sidewalks, garbage pickup, and staff time for special events.
