Ayes: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman
Noes: None
Absent: None
MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL
Councilmember McGovern asked to see the agendas of this Council's final two meetings. She said she
was especially concerned that Measures PP and QQ be addressed as soon as possible by this
Council, rather than the next who may not be as well versed in the matter, and with including those who
helped to draft the measures in that discussion.
Mr. Fialho said the item is scheduled for the Council's November 27th meeting. Due to the various
methods for calculating and defining things like ridgelines and slopes, it is scheduled as a discussion
item rather than an action item. Staffs intent to get input from the public and Council that will shape
whatever modifications are then made to the Municipal Code.
Councilmember McGovern asked if staff could bring the matter forward at the November 20th meeting
and then return for a decision by the Council in November 27th.
Councilmember Sullivan agreed that it should be this Council that makes a decision on the issue.
Mr. Fialho explained that a number of senior staff members would be out of town the week of the 20th,
making it very difficult to move the item up to that meeting. If the Council were interested in holding a
special meeting shortly after the election, then perhaps it could be accomplished as Councilmember
McGovern would like.
A special meeting could entertain more robust discussion on November 13th and then placed on the
agenda on November 27`h. Councilmember Thorne noted he would be unavailable November 13`h
Councilmember Sullivan inquired about meeting on election night, which was the past practice of the
Council until two years ago.
Mayor Hosterman said she would be out of town on election night. She asked and staff confirmed that
they could accommodate the entire process on November 27'h
COUNCIL REPORTS
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:53 p.m. The Council extended a
tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military. We wish to honor the memories of those
who have died in past wars in defense of our country, including those who have died in the current
conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Respectfully bmitted,
KaenDiaz
City Jerk
City Council Minutes Page 12 of 12 October 16, 2012
