THE CITY OF 9 "' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT pL E ASANTONe November 20, 2012 Community Development Traffic Engineering Division TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE USE OF MEASURE B BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN FUNDS SUMMARY Staff recommends approval of the use of Measure B Bicycle and Pedestrian funds for paving segments of the Arroyo Mocho Trail and for the relocation of the Valley Avenue Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail. The Alameda County Measure B Bicycle and Pedestrian fund has more than $1 million dollars in funding available. These Measure B Funds have accumulated over the last several years to pay for Pleasanton's share of the Alamo Canal Trail 1-580 undercrossing project, but the award of the US Department of Transportation Tiger 11 grant for completion of the Undercrossing significantly reduced Pleasanton's cost share of that project. To comply with Measure B's "timely use of funds" requirement, these funds need to be reprogrammed to new projects. RECOMMENDATION 1 . Approve the use of Measure B Bicycle and Pedestrian Funding for the following projects: • Paving segments of the Arroyo Mocho Trail west of Santa Rita • Paving segments of the Arroyo Mocho Trail east of Santa Rita • Relocation of Valley Avenue Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail between Sunol Boulevard and the Alameda County Transportation Corridor 2. Authorize the transfer of $715,989 of Measure B Bicycle and Pedestrian funds from Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project General Trail Improvements and Development, CIP No. 017037, to the Valley Avenue Bicycle & Pedestrian Trail project ($112,500) and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Related Improvements project ($603,389). FINANCIAL STATEMENT Staff recommendation includes a transfer of CIP funding as noted above to meet anticipated project expenditures and to meet Measure B reporting requirements. The agenda report provides more regarding the transfers.
