IN THE AMOUNT OF <br /> $400,400 FOR THE ANNUAL WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT — JOHNSON <br /> DRIVE PROJECT, CIP NO. 111028 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Bids have been received for the project and staff is recommending award of the <br /> construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder, California Trenchless, Inc., in the <br /> amount of $400,400. The project replaces approximately 3,300 linear feet of water <br /> main on Johnson Drive. The existing line is made of Asbestos Concrete Pipe which <br /> was installed in the early 1960s. This pipe is installed behind the curb and in <br /> landscaping areas where there is potential for large tree roots to break the aged pipe. <br /> Customers for this water line are high water demand commercial category customers. <br /> The new pipe material will be PVC C-900 and will be installed in the public right of way. <br /> The old line will be abandoned in place. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve plans and specifications for this project. <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the contract for the project to California <br /> Trenchless, Inc. of Dublin, California, for a low bid amount of $400,400. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the project contract. <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Community Development to approve and execute any <br /> required contract change orders to address unanticipated project conditions for a <br /> not-to-exceed amount of$60,931 (approximately 15% of the contract). <br /> 5. Authorize the transfer of $50,000 from CIP 121028, Annual Water Main <br /> Replacement, to complete the funding for this project. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for this project is provided by the CIP through the Annual Water Main <br /> Replacement project (CIP No. 111028 and CIP 121028). <br /> This project is part of an annual ongoing program that will replace and upgrade existing <br /> infrastructure and reduce maintenance costs. <br />
