CITY OF PLEA~ANTON <br />COUNTY OF AL~PEDA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2538 <br /> <br /> W~EREA~, the City Council of the City of Pleasanton did by <br />its official act create and form the public body known as the <br />"Housing Authority of the City of Pleasanton" for the purpose of <br />providing necessary public housing in and near the City of Pleas- <br />anton; and <br /> <br /> ¥~HERE~, the City does continue to contract and cooperate <br />with the Housing Authority, and does appoint its cammfssioners, <br />and does provide necessary services to the two housing projects <br />now operated by the Housing Authority, to the end that public <br />housing is available to military personnel serving in this area; <br />and <br /> <br /> '~_J~, on the order of the Public Housing Administration <br />of the federal government 257 trailer units located at Parks Air <br />Force Base, California, operated by the federal agency, will be <br />closed; and <br /> <br /> WPiEREA~, said 257 trailer units form a substantial proportion <br />of public housing in the Pleasanton-Livermore Valley; <br /> <br />EOV4 ~EFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL DOES RESOLVE ~ FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> !. That the Public Housing Administration, the Air <br />Force, and other federal officers and agencies involved reconsid- <br />er their decision to close said 257 trailer units located at <br />Parks f~r Force Base, California. <br /> <br /> 2. That said agencies and officers be informed that <br />the need for low-cost public housing, as provided by said trailers <br />is great, and does exist at present. <br /> <br /> 3. That without said trailers many families would be <br />forced to take substandard and far less adequate housing at great- <br />er cost to them. <br /> <br /> $. That the Pleasanton-Livermore Valley is pred~minant- <br />ly agricultural, and has no facilities for 257 families now or in <br />the foreseeable future. <br /> <br /> 5. That the Na~or, the City Clerk and City Administra- <br />tor are hereby authorized to send copies of this resolution as <br />they see fit, and to contact local, state and federal officials <br />to keep such necessary low-cost public housing for this area. <br /> <br />INTRODUC~ AND PASSED at a Special Meeting, March 25, 1956, <br /> <br />by th~ following vote: <br />Abr ott, Hansen. <br /> <br />City Cl~rk <br /> <br />Cairo, Hector, Trimingham; ABSENT: <br /> / ~-' Mayor ,~ <br /> <br /> <br />
