RESOLUTION NO. 2537 <br /> <br />W]iEREAS: The conservation of water in the Pleasanton-Livermore Valley is of <br /> vital importance to all citizens and property owners, either directly <br /> or indirectly. <br /> <br />AND WHEREAS: The Flood Control problem is closely interwoven with the solu- <br /> tion of water conservation, and is also of vital importance to a <br /> majority of property owners in this proposed zone. <br /> <br />AND W~EREAS: The Flood Control problem is of special benefit to the Cities <br /> of Livermore and Pleasanton and their future expansion. <br /> <br />AND WHEREAS: The Pleasanton Livermore Valley is the only populated area <br /> left in Alameda County not in a zone formed for the purpose of <br /> water conservation and flood control. <br /> <br />AND WHEREAS: A Water Conservation and Flood Control Zone is a necessary <br /> goverr~ental unit to facilitate agreements and contracts with other <br /> agencies, including State and Federal bodies. <br /> <br />AND WHEREAS: It is absolutely necessary to apply for future water needed in <br /> this valley as soon as possible in order to provide for our undeniabl~ <br /> growth. <br /> <br />AND W~EREAS: Flood Control measures are needed immediately to avoid a repe- <br /> tition of the high property losses suffered in recent floods in this <br /> valley. <br /> <br />AND W~iEREAS: The formation of this zone will facilitate the water program <br /> now proposed for Alameda County by the Board of Supervisors, and that <br /> this program is of great benefit to the Pleasanton Livermore Valley. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL: <br /> <br />That the Pleasanton City Council endorses the formation of a Water <br />Conservation and Flood Control Zone for the Pleasanton Livermore <br />Valley as proposed by the Valley Water Committee, of which John <br />Busch is Chairman, and that the formation of this zone be put to <br />an election as soon as possible - as time is valuable. <br /> <br />ADOPTED THIS 19th day of March <br /> <br />, 1956, b/ the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br /> NOES: <br /> ABSENT: <br /> <br />Councilmen Abrott, Cairo, Hansen, Hector and Trimingham <br />None <br />None <br /> <br /> yor <br /> <br />Attest: <br /> <br /> / City Clerk <br /> <br />Addressed to: Mr. John Busch,.,Ghairman <br /> Pleasanton Livermore Valley <br /> Water Committee <br /> <br /> <br />
